Ministry Highlight: United Faith Chapel

Emily, Kelly, and Isabella- two from my small group
Josh and I spend a portion of our time serving and worshipping with the students at United Faith Chapel, KIU.  Josh helps lead the Men's Ministry, while I help with Women's Ministry.  This semester I led a women's small group- it was such a sweet time of fellowship and learning.

United Faith Chapel is a student based Christian fellowship that operates in Kampala International University in Uganda (East Africa). It is there to fulfill the great commission that our Lord Jesus Christ gave to his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”(ASV) They are a mission sending ministry in that they take time to disciple students during their time in school then send them out to be missionaries and to influence people for Christ in their different spheres of influence.

The University ministry at KIU is incredibly exciting and we plan to focus on growing this ministry and seeing it expand to further universities within East Africa. For that reason we feel led to establish a solid internship program for the student leaders who feel called into ministry. We want to disciple them, provide resources for them and challenge them to take the step of faith necessary to expand this ministry to other universities. There are ministries already established in at least 5 other universities (Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania) which have their roots in Kampala. We would love to visit these ministries, see how the leaders are doing , encourage the leaders, and see how we can assist them in continuing their ministry.

Are there international students at a university near you?  Intervarsity has some articles that will help you reach out within your own sphere of influence! And if you have space at your Christmas dinner table, perhaps you could welcome someone who is far from home into yours!  Or maybe encourage your church to partner with Christmas International House next year!
