August Prayer Requests

AGC Uganda has set Friday, 3rd August, as a day of prayer and fasting for the future of AGC Uganda and WGM Uganda, especially in relation to AGC Uganda. There will also be focused prayer for AGC Kisugu. This is not only a time of prayer for the future of the ministries, but also a time of acknowledging and repenting of past known and unknown sin. This time has been initiated by the church.
How you can be Praying for WGM Uganda
Ministry Praises and Prayer Requests
  • Heritage International School begins the new year on 17 August. Please pray for the teachers and staff coming to teach this year that they will model godliness in all of their interactions with the students.
  • Pray for the missionary children who will be attending HIS this year:
  • Kaleb Hopson and Josh Leisure = Seniors
  • Austin Hopson and Jordan Mayo = Sophomores
  • Katherine Leisure = Freshman
  • Emilee Hopson and Ethan Mayo = 8th Grade
  • Caleb Hallahan = Kindergarten
  • Seth Hallahan = Junior Kindergarten
  • The Arua team will host a facilitators training school in orality next week. Pray for a great time of learning the Bible stories as well as for great health for the wives and children.
  • Pray for Beth Coppedge as she continues with chemotherapy. May God be glorified in her body and testimony.
  • WGM is praying for wisdom and seeking to develop the internship program at UFC/KIU. We are praying for students to be called by God, equipped and sent out to universities across East Africa. We are praying that by the end of this year 4 interns are equipped and resourced to go out to another university beyond KIU.
  • We are praying for consistent pastoral leadership here at UFC/KIU. Kennedy Kirui continues to be a valuable resource as we seek to grow the university ministry and we are seeking the Lords wisdom and guidance as we partner with Kennedy.
  • Be in prayer for Raymond and Nicole Leisure as they head this way. Nicole arrives tomorrow and Ray and their teenage children arrive in the middle of the month.
  • Pray also for Jeff and Christine Stanfield as they finish their packing in the States and head this way later this month. They will need God’s help as they transition to a new field after being in Kenya for 20+ years.
  • The printing ministry has grown by leaps and bounds and Kenneth now needs more space. Pray that God will provide the funds needed ($10,000) to build the addition.
  • The group of men who traveled to Congo and Mbarrara to check out ministry opportunities are thankful for God’s protection and help on the road as well as for God’s hand of safety and protection on their families while they were away.
  • There will be a CHE training workshop in Arua 13-17 August. Pray for safety as the participants and facilitators gather and for the Spirit to quicken hearts and minds to think and see in godly ways.
  • Please pray for the physical & spiritual health of the missionaries & their families.

Ongoing Prayer Requests for the Field
  • Pray for ministry opportunities that have opened up in South Sudan as well as for continued peace across the region.
  • Please continue to pray for the field housing situation. With rent increases and more missionaries arriving, the need for affordable field housing continues to remain a need.
  • Please pray for the pastoral training program in 2012 as the updated and revised training syllabus is implemented. It’s based on a discipleship/scriptural knowledge/leadership model.
  • The Africa Gospel Church now has its own leadership team with bishop, assistant bishop, and general secretary. These men have many responsibilities in the church and need prayer for wisdom, strength, and integrity.
  • Pray for the Community Health Empowerment ministry (CHE). Pray that those involved in this ministry will be true servants of Jesus Christ and will help lead not only their local churches but also their communities toward transformation. Pray also that 4 African facilitators will be trained this year to help with the expansion of the ministry.
  • Please pray for the youth pastors’ training as well as the devotional book that was printed last year to be distributed widely among Ugandan youth so that they will be challenged to live godly lives whether they are at home or away at boarding school.
  • Please pray as we continue to look at new areas for outreach. We continue to look toward the Democratic Republic of Congo believing that God has people He wants us to touch there.
  • Please pray that the Lord will continue to provide new missionaries to meet the needs of the expanding ministries.
  • Please pray for the printing ministry that Kenneth and Delight Hopson are involved with. The print shop touches every area of ministry of WGM in Uganda and many other mission groups as well.
  • Please pray for land to be purchased to build an Urban Center or to be able to purchase land with an existing building for multi-purpose ministries in Kampala. This Urban Center will be a place for the 600 plus students from 11 African countries in the University Ministry. It will be a multi-purpose building for a church to reach professionals, a place to begin businesses or to rent out to other businesses to help fund the ministries of the church.
  • Please pray that God will provide the necessary resources to meet the needs within all of the ministry opportunities.
  • Please pray that we will all have the attitude of Christ, that we will keep Him the center focus of our lives, marriages, families, & ministries, and that we will be a light to Uganda and beyond.
