Gold Medal: Uganda!

Today, Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda won the Gold Medal in the Men's Marathon!  Celebrate with us! But I also want to encourage us- life is a marathon, not a sprint- and that was painfully illustrated as the final 85th runner crossed the finish line after almost 3 hours.  Maybe you feel like quitting today- don't!  Slow down, take a break, but don't give up!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:1-3

It was a delight to see the great cloud of witnesses in London cheering on that final runner... he was walking in, maybe about to give up... and then the crowd started rallying.  He broke into a jog and he made it!

On your missions journey, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, not on the vast need, or your weaknesses.  Take one more step.  Find a missions partner and cheer each other on.  We need each other in order to run this race well and hear on that great day: "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
