Earth is Crammed with Heaven

The flowers at my house are in full bloom right now.  Deep red, brilliant white,  soft pink, bright yellow.  As I left for the office I admired those blooms and remembered some thoughts from a book a read a while back.

There is not a flower that opens, not a seed that falls into the ground, and not an ear of wheat that nods on the end of its stalk in the wind that does not preach and proclaim the greatness and the mercy of God to the whole world— ThomasMerton
The author went onto describe different parts of nature and how enjoyable they are.  A stroll through the woods is an adventure in the ideas of God.  Each tree, each leaf is unique within His creative expression of love.  Through His work we are given a glimpse, if even the smallest glimpse, into how the divine thinks.  And just as our love for our children makes much of their art, so too does our love for God make much of His.
Some people, in order to discover God, read books. But there is a great book: the very appearance of created things. Look above you! Look below you! Read it. God, whom you want to discover, never wrote that book with ink. Instead He set before your eyes the things that He had made. Can you ask for a louder voice than that? — St. Augustine
There is no peace more wonderful than the peace we enjoy when faith shows us God in all created things. — Jean-Pierre de Caussade
Earth is crammed with heaven
And every bush aflame with God
But only those who see take off their shoes.

Metz Family: How They Got Here

In January of 2013, during a lunch conversation with Frank Martin, a friend and pastor to missionaries, the Holy Spirit gripped Nathan's heart and placed a clear and certain call to the work being done in Uganda.  Nathan called Jade as soon as he could.  Since that moment Nathan and Jade have walked step by step in faith and enjoyed the gentle confirmations God has blessed them with.  In May, Nathan and Jade were officially accepted as Missionary Disciples to Uganda through World Gospel Mission, a 103 year old mission sending agency.

God doesn’t always speak to us in flashes of light or booms of thunder.  Sometimes we have to wait for the noise to subside so that we can hear His voice in a soft whisper.  Such is the case in their calling.  God spoke to Nathan as he sat across the table from a trusted brother in Christ.  As that man shared about the needs of the church in Uganda, God whispered “this is your work, go”. Now they prepare to leave their home and serve the church in Uganda.  What a gracious and loving God we serve that He should use us for the work of His Kingdom!

Meet the Metz Family

Nathan and Jade Metz are the newest appointed Missionary Disciples to Uganda!  We love when God calls new missionaries to join Him in what He is doing here in Uganda!

Nathan and Jade were married in a small country church surrounded by a loving group of family and friends.  At the wedding they shared twenty-five big dreams with those who knew them best.  They asked that their friends and family pray for them that they might be obedient to follow God wherever He asked them to go.  After Maddix and Sophie were born they began to talk about adoption. God called them to adopt from Uganda, Africa and in 2010 they welcomed Ezra into their family.  In July of 2011 God spoke to Nathan about his ministry.  In the tabernacle at their local family campground Nathan accepted the call to full time ministry. The Metz family immediately began to pray and prepare for the changes certain to come.  A year later they were blessed once again by the gift of adoption and in May of 2012 they celebrated the addition of newborn Ruby Ann.  Over the last year Nathan has finished his academic work and the whole family has been excitedly waiting to see where God might lead them next.  What an amazing journey it has been!

Nathan’s favorite moments are the quiet ones.  He loves sweet tea, good books and a nice lawn chair in the shade.  His passion for preaching and teaching the Word drive Him.  God’s work in Nathan’s life has been nothing short of miraculous.

Jade is an experienced encourager.  She can often be found curled up on the couch writing a note of support to a friend in need.  God has gifted Jade with a compassionate heart and a determination that fuels her whole family.  Her life is a testimony to the loving and powerful redemption of Jesus Christ.

Maddix is a smarty-pants.  She loves reading and helping other to learn.  Sophie is the funniest little girl with a constant smile on her face.  God put such a soft and caring heart in Sophie and we love her for that.  Ezra is one tough dude who is certain about his status as ‘super-hero’.  He loves fishing with grandpa, wrestling with daddy and hugging with mommy.  Ruby is a giggling, walking, babbling bundle of beauty.  The Metz family is blessed!

They will begin fundraising and preparing for the field in the coming weeks.  They are planning to complete their Homeland Ministry Assignment and be released to Uganda in August 2014.  If you would like to partner with them financially- CLICK HERE!  Pray for them as they begin this crazy wonderful adventure of full-time missions!

Stay tuned to their BLOG for more about their family and future ministry as we get to know them better!

Also, keep Justin and Debby Williams in your prayers as they wrap up ministry at their local church, and begin their homeland Ministry Assignment.  Keep praying that God would raise up and send more laborers for the harvest!  Is He calling you??
