We Cannot Fight Alone

Prayer Time over Seniors: January 2013
In September 2008, the missionaries of World Gospel Mission Uganda felt the Lord leading us to become more intentional in our prayer ministries.  We knew that many people were praying together with us to see transformation take place in Uganda and beyond, but we wanted to become more consistent and organized as one group united in praying.  In fact, this prayer blog is just one result of this movement.

We knew that this type of intentional prayer would bring great victories, but we also knew that it would require intense spiritual warfare.  Over the years we have seen God work in amazing ways, but it has not always been easy to hold on in difficult times.  Many times it has been others standing with us that has literally held us up and allowed us to continue being obedient to the call of God on our lives.

Recently one of our WGM Uganda missionaries, Beth Muehleisen, shared the following devotional thought from Aletha Hinthorn.  As I read through it I was once again reminded of the importance of prayer and having others join us in prayer.  Beth said in her introduction, “The difference in a missionary pushing through and making it during a difficult situation may be our prayer for them.”

Over the years as I have remembered the faithfulness of our prayer warriors, I have been reminded continually of the story of Moses’ hands being held up by Aaron and Hur while Joshua fought the victorious battle in Exodus 17:8-16.  We cannot fight this battle alone.  We cannot stand alone.  We are literally reclaiming territory from Satan that belongs to God, and it requires all of us praying together.  I am so thankful for all the prayer warriors that stand together with WGM Uganda in the battle.  “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joybecause of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,”  Philippians 1:3-5 (NIV)
